Leading Medical Cannabis Company GrowOp Technology, Announces Merger with Terra Tech a Publicly Traded Urban Ag Company

April 14, 2012

Terra Tech Corp. (OTCBB: TRTC.OB), a leader in controlled agricultural products, announced today that it has merged with GrowOp Technology Ltd., a cultivation equipment manufacturer focused on the rapidly emerging medical Cannabis market.

Irvine, CA (PRWEB) April 11, 2012
Terra Tech Corp. (OTCBB: TRTC.OB), a leader in controlled agricultural products, announced today that it has merged with GrowOp Technology Ltd., a cultivation equipment manufacturer focused on the rapidly emerging medical Cannabis market. Their merger closed on February 2, 2012.
Derek Peterson, CEO of GrowOp Technology and newly appointed CEO of parent company Terra Tech Corp., says that traditional urban agriculture shares many of the same technologies and processes that are utilized in the cultivation of medicinal cannabis. Much of the technology that exists today has been funded by commercial cannabis cultivation.
“Urban agriculture is a remarkable solution for effectively and efficiently feeding our global population, while delivering a product that is significantly more healthy for both the consumer and the planet,” said Peterson. “If not for cannabis being one of the largest cash crops of this country, the industry would be years behind in technological advancements.”
Terra Tech takes advantage of their unique position within the market by having visibility into the new technologies that are developed for cannabis cultivation and marketing those very same products to urban farmers who are cultivating everything from herbs to micro greens.
“As more cultivation moves indoors, urban farmers need a new set of tools to regulate and manage these operations. The global population is growing exponentially, forcing us to seek out and adopt alternative methods for food production. Indoor, vertical and greenhouse cultivation are potential answers to many of our existing agricultural limitations,” suggests Russell Winnett, COO and lead design engineer of GrowOp Tech.
One of the premises of Terra Tech’s business is that, with a global population of approximately 7 billion, scarcity of food and the resources to produce it are rapidly becoming a concern. This increased need to sustain our population puts a strain on other global resources as the production and transportation of food significantly increases greenhouse gas emissions. Terra Tech believes this coupled with greater access to information and understanding that locally grown produce is not only better for the environment but also has a higher degree of nutrition has led to this current surge in hydroponically grown crops. Terra Tech intends to position itself to capitalize on this “growing” market.

Medical Cannabis Equipment Manufacturer Launches the “iPad of Pot”

December 2, 2011

GrowOp Technology, the nation’s first medical marijuana-friendly hydroponics manufacturing company, announced today that it has officially launched its line of hi-tech digital environmental controllers for indoor and urban agriculture.

Oakland, CA (PRWEB) December 02, 2011

GrowOp Technology, the nation’s first medical marijuana-friendly hydroponics manufacturing company, announced today that it has officially launched its line of hi-tech digital environmental controllers for indoor and urban agriculture.

“Managing a large scale indoor cultivation effort is a time consuming and tedious process, fraught with significant opportunities for error. Automation is a core focus for GrowOp and our tools help significantly increase productivity and yields while reducing the margin for error,” said Derek Peterson, CEO and founder of GrowOp Tech.

GrowOp’s Lineup includes everything needed to manage large scale indoor farms from its ‘Chrono’ timers to its crown jewel the ‘Atmos D1’. These devices are designed to streamline indoor cultivation by automating and monitoring most of the key components associated with indoor gardening. Simply plug into your computer via a USB cable and program your temperature, C02 and other settings according to your personal specifications.

These systems are completely customizable to control everything from humidity levels, lighting sequences, and C02 levels with absolute precision utilizing patented infrared/NDIR technology.

“As more cultivation moves indoors urban farmers need a new set of tools to regulate and manage these operations. The global population is growing exponentially forcing us to seek out and adopt alternative methods for food production. Indoor, vertical, and greenhouse cultivation are potential answers to many of our existing agricultural limitations, and the development of technologies like these are paramount in its success,” suggests Russell Winnett, COO and lead design engineer of GrowOp Tech.

These controllers, combined with the high-tech indoor hydro and aeroponic systems that GrowOp manufactures are poised to become the plows and tractors of this new paradigm of cultivation technology.

“Farming is going both urban as well as vertical and tools like these are going to be the staples of this new city-centric approach to agriculture,” said Peterson.

GrowOp Technology is featured in National Geographic’s new documentary “The Marijuana Gold Rush” premiering on December 2nd.

Rihanna grows her own?????

September 22, 2011

That’s the only explanation we can think of for pop megastar Rihanna‘s decision to appear on the front cover of a magazine aimed at hydroponics enthusiasts.

Rosebud magazine has an interview with the smoking (hot) singer in its current issue – in which she discusses what sort of flower she would be if she were a bloom (a “rebel flower”, in case you wondered).

If you don’t know what hydroponics is – it involves growing plants using mineral solutions instead of soil – and is often conducted secretively in confined spaces such as lofts and cupboards.

Yes, we are talking about growing weed, in case you still hadn’t got it.

And Rihanna isn’t the first star to appear on the front of the rather specialist magazine. Brad Pitt (a man known to have enjoyed a toke or three in the past) has been a previous cover star too.

There was no word on whether Ri-Ri got any green for doing the interview however.

NORML Womens Alliance Appreciates a New Approach to Advertising

September 6, 2011

Hi Everyone,

I thought I’d share something with you that made me smile. In the upcoming issue of High Times, you’ll find an advertisement from Grow-Op Technology Ltd. with this tagline “While most companies use fancy graphics and scantily clad women to push their products… recent studies show that 9 out of 10 hydroponic buyers prefer cute puppies.” (their bolds) And pictured is an adorable Golden Retriever puppy. The ad is attached if you’d like to see it.

I’m glad that advertisers are using humor (and dogs) to push product, it shows more creativity. And I’m glad that a business has chosen to comment on the sexism in the marijuana industry—hopefully this ad will get a lot of notice and further more discussions about this issue. I have a background in design and advertising, and when I see companies using sex to sell marijuana, it strikes me as lazy. There’s much better ways to market products in this industry, and I am glad we are seeing an example of it now.

If you are unhappy with the portrayal of women in advertisements or the costumes at tradeshows, please reach out to the companies who commissioned the ads or hired the models and let them know. Many businesses are responsive to customer complaints. Likewise, if you enjoyed the Grow-Op Tech “puppy” ad, reach out and let them know—I’d be happy to see more puppies in the pages of HT!

Thank you,

Elise McDonough

West Coast Design & Production Director at HIGH TIMES

THANK YOU ELISE FOR RECOGNIZING HOW WE ARE TRYING TO CHANGE THE INDUSTRY!!!!!!
